Homer, Alaska 2021

Nourish in Nature at a remote chalet in Homer, Alaska

Rejuvenate with Acupuncture + Ayurveda + Gentle Yoga

August 27th - 29th 2021

Connect to your earthly roots this summer using elements of inner & outer exploration.

Spend a weekend immersed in self-care and nature. Heal your body & mind with acupuncture, rest, meditation, and gentle yoga.

Join Kara Troglin and Dr. Christie Wisel for a cozy and blissful weekend to unwind from life’s daily stresses. It will be a time to connect with like-minded women dedicated to improving their mental and physical health with self-care practices.

Summer is a time to play, soak up sunshine, and spend time absorbing the bliss of nature. We invite you to pause, slow down, and experience deep relaxation.

In both Chinese Medicine & Ayurveda, summer is revered as an important time to explore, but also nourish the body & brain to prevent burn out. We must balance out fun and intentional rest.

Located at a remote chalet outside of Homer, Alaska

This unique location provides a fusion of Alaskan wilderness with exquisite comfort. It offers all amenities, expansive views, and a super cozy wood-paneled interior. The warm feel of wood, the in-floor hydronic heat & rustic lighting create the ultimate unplugged experience.

This spacious chalet includes five bedrooms and three bathrooms allowing for privacy. A large stone fireplace and cathedral ceiling opens the main room up with great mood lighting. It includes a fully equipped Chef's kitchen & 10 seat dining table where you will be served delicious locally sourced meals.

The 80 acre lot is adjacent to thousands of acres of state land for exploration & hiking. You will hear the sound of birds, watch bald eagles soaring overhead, or view moose grazing peacefully from the large deck. It is surrounded with abundant wildflowers and a field of colors.

The chalet is not completely off grid - there is electricity, propane, and a wood burning fireplace. Each bedroom has individual temperature control (heating) separate from the common areas.

There is no cell service, but you do have access a mile or two further down the road. Satellite wifi internet calling can be done from the property.

We are very excited about this location!

Kara Troglin

Yoga & Meditation Teacher, Author, Photographer

Hi, I'm Kara.

It is a long time passion of mine to hold safe space for students to come home to themselves.

I am an E-RYT 200, RYT 500, CAYEP, Meditation teacher, & training to become an Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist. I've been hosting yoga wellness retreats on the Kenai Peninsula for several years & it brings me so much joy!

My teachings are trauma informed, evidence based, & connected to psycho education & neuroscience. My offerings are therapeutic and ease anxiety & depression.

My aim is to create a wellness experience carefully crafted to nourish not only the physical body, but the mental & emotional body as well.

There is a magical energy that comes with unplugging from everything and absorbing the natural wonders of the Alaskan forest.

When we take the journey inwards in a safe & healing environment we can process life in a radical way. It invites rest, nourishment, and authenticity towards yourself.

Our mission as a collaborative team is to cultivate a nourishing atmosphere where you can dive deep into wholeness.

What people are saying:

"Kara’s retreat at Salted Roots was just what I needed. After recently making a cross-country move to Alaska I was feeling very emotionally unsettled. When asked at the retreat to describe in one word what I was hoping to get out of the weekend, my word was “peace”.

I definitely received much needed peace that weekend. I left feeling renewed and have had a completely different mindset ever since. The retreat was a wonderful opportunity to spend time nurturing my self all while being around some incredibly inspiring ladies.

Kara is so compassionate and led us in such meaningful yoga meditation sessions that enabled me to reach a state of relaxation I had not before been in.  It was just what I needed. Nature, healthy meals, serene cabins on the ocean and a wonderful instructor all made for the perfect weekend retreat.”

- Amy

"In the past few years I’ve decided to seek out holistic care and it has made all the difference. Dr. Christie is knowledgeable, attentive and will help you develop realistic goals for your optimal health & wellbeing.

The acupuncture and cupping session was just what I needed to feel restored after months of postpartum aches and pains. She even held my baby so I could get the most out of my treatment. 🙏🏽"
